| Article: NAV155 | Inserting images into a report |
| Summary: | After inserting a picture into a report, the file size of the report is inefficiently large, maybe 1 or 2 Mb in size. How can I get the report to be much smaller? |
| Symptoms: | This is far less to do with the file size of the image than its dimensions at the DPI (Dots Per Inch) when viewed with your monitor. A typical monitor displays at 96 dpi but if your image was created with a resolution of 1200 dpi then it will appear more than 12 times bigger than its intended display size; Crystal Reports will then convert this into a large internal resource in the report file - even if you resize it. So if you want you image to 5 cm x 2 cm then create / modify it in your graphics programme to use a similar dpi setting to your monitor, then size it accordingly. |
